This is a recorded presentation from the Intimate Partner Violence Brain Injury Virtual Conference: ‘Empowering Innovation: Highlighting Promising Practices in Intimate Partner Violence and Brain Injury Research, Recognition, and Response’. Put on by the ENIGMA IPV (Intimate Partner Violence) Working Group and Pink Concussions, the virtual onference took place on 5–6 November, 2025. It brought together experts from around the world to discuss women’s brain injuries resulting from gender-based violence.
In the presentation, Courtney Artridge and Jackie McMillan from Women’s Health NSW unpack a case study to show how women’s health centres across NSW improved the way they respond to women with experiences of strangulation, sexual choking, and acquired brain injury.
This podcast will be useful to healthcare providers and community service providers who work with women who may have experienced strangulation, sexual choking, and acquired brain injury.
