In June 2025, News.com.au ran an article about the UK banning pornography depicting strangulation.
This article will be useful to people engaging in, or considering engaging in sexual choking, as well as service providers and healthcare providers working with people engaging in, or considering engaging in sexual choking.
The article features comments by Karen Bevan, CEO of our membership organisation, Full Stop Australia, who argues that banning particular types of pornography is an “end of the line” response. Bevan explains that while there are strong arguments to criminalise violent pornography, we need to understand effective prevention at all levels. The article points to It Left No Marks as part of the Australian response to this women’s health issue.
