Strangulation: Improving responses to an often-invisible form of gender-based violence
This Ask LOIS webinar was a collaboration between Women’s Health NSW and Women’s Legal Service NSW. The webinar was broadcast live on Wednesday 1 May 2024.
In the webinar, Women’s Health NSW present on their work supporting and strengthening professional understanding of, and local capacity to respond to, non-fatal strangulation in the context of sexual violence across the state. This includes three key learning areas:
- Language matters
- Data collection
- Multidisciplinary responses.
Women’s Legal Service NSW present on the ways that service providers can support women with experiences of strangulation who may choose to pursue legal and compensatory outcomes in the future through record keeping and case notes.
This webinar recording will be useful to community health and domestic, family and sexual violence sector workers and legal actors engaged with meeting the needs of women with experiences of strangulation.
